Learning the Lewis Method of Deep Democracy
A scalable solution to workplace conflict
Deep Democracy enables teams to address resistance openly and find productive solutions together. Psychological safety means being able to disagree upwards, to appear weak, to express doubts and sometimes to express “bad” thoughts in the knowledge that we are working together through tough times. We support teams in exercising their 'argument muscle', because good arguing leads to better results, prevents pseudo-agreement and strengthens team culture. So, let's argue more - and above all better!
Deep Democracy consists of 8 practical methods to tackle difficult decisions, situations or conflicts in 1-to-1 and group scenarios. The methods taught also increase the meta-competencies of the participants to better understand themselves, their colleagues and employees in order to recognize conflicts before they escalate. The method empowers participants to create inclusive & psychologically safe environments where it becomes easy to voice dissent and resolve conflicts when they arise.
How do people rate our Workshops?
The Net Promoter Score (NPS) measures how likely customers are to recommend a company or product. NPS shows what percentage leaves an experience truly satisfied and inspired. Only a 9/10 or 10/10 count as a positive experience, 8's & 7's are rated neutral and anything below a 6 counts as negative. The NPS is calculated by taking the percentage of 9/10's and deducting the percentage of <6's.
NPS scores range from -100 (all 6 or below) through 0 (all 7's or 8's) to 100 (all 9's or 10's).
The result is a net percentage of participants who leave the workshop having become real fans or "promoters". Our current NPS is 70.
The Data leading to our current Net Promoter Score (NPS): We asked "How likely are you to recommend this workshop to a friend?" The data shows 6% detractors (rated <6), 18% neutral (rated 7-8) and 76% promoters (rated 9-10).
For comparison: in many industries the average NPS ranges between 20-30, airlines are often as low as 5, while only major brands like Apple reach around 70.
We want as many people as possible to leave truly inspired - and we take it seriously whenever that is not the case.
